"Nothing is more important than health. You are what you eat, of course you should eat better!" Maggie, founder of LATIN DELICIA ™, with this simple concept, set up her Latin-European high-quality food wholesale and retail company.

The founder often travels around the world because of her family business which runs the world’s largest company of scale models. Spain is like her second home where the head office is located. Every time she goes to Spain, she explores different places in Latin-Europe in search of unique dishes. Before the pandemic outbreak, she always invited her friends to party at her home and try the dishes she cooked with the food products she brought from her trips. Since 2019, she has spent more time in Hong Kong due to the pandemic situation and started to create easy-to-cook recipes of fusion cuisine. Her friends are all impressed by her authentic Latin-European tasty dishes. When they learnt that all the dishes could be made following her recipes, they immediately asked her to order the food ingredients for them.

Most of the ingredients selected by Maggie are imported from Spain. As high-quality food products from Latin-Europe are not yet common in Hong Kong market, their import prices are relatively high. In view of this, Maggie gave serious consideration to developing food importation from Europe as her career.

When it comes to quality of her imported food, Maggie thinks that she cannot rely on anyone but herself. It is never easy to start a business and a solid foundation is crucial to the business’ future success. For the selection of food suppliers, she insisted to visit every potential supplier to inspect its local production process, from breeding to packaging, so as to ascertain that every process fulfils high-quality standards. Within a year, she visited dozens of food factories in different regions for food tasting and comparison. The import and export procedures in Europe are very complicated, even minor issues like food shelf life have to be taken care of. In any event, with her enthusiasm for food, she has overcome a lot of difficulties, and even learned from European local chefs to cook special local dishes. That’s one of her ways to enjoy her work!

Maggie hopes to help people around her to live a healthy and happy life. Through LATIN DELICIA ™, she wants to promote the high-quality food imported from Europe with reasonable prices, and gather friends to enjoy life. She also treats this as a challenge to develop her own career in addition to her family business, demonstrating that a female entrepreneur can take care of her family and enjoy her “me time” at the same time.
